 Beliefs and Purposes

For more than seventy years, the Peninsula Concert Band has provided musical entertainment for citizens and communities in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Since its inception, the PCB has always supported the entertainment wishes of our communities and will continue to devote our organizational energy and talent to the following purposes and beliefs:

• Develop community musical awareness through public performances

• Perform in a variety of public and community venues

• Educate our listeners about the musical literature of both past and present

• Provide a rich and diverse repertoire of band music to our communities

• Raise the music appreciation and listening abilities of our audiences

• Keep the music of America’s past alive for all generations of listeners

• Build a sense of musical community for the diverse populations in our area

• Provide an entertainment outlet for the elderly unable to attend public arenas

• Serve as a model of performance for students in public, private and home schools

• Build a sense of enjoyment in each player for the performance of music

• Provide a performance outlet for members who want to play music beyond school

• Provide a place for adult learning and engagement of the musical mind

• Provide a social outlet for band members.
